Pandharpur Wari Yatra attracts lakhs of devotees every year from all over Maharashtra, which makes it one of the largest spiritual yatra (journey) in India. Pandharpur Wari Yatra is held in honour of Lord Vitthal (Vithoba). This foot yatra involves devotees known as Warkaris who cover’s a distance of more than 250 km with palanquins (Palkhis) of great saints like Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, all the way to Pandharpur. What is Pandharpur Wari?
The Pandharpur Wari Yatra is an ancient tradition where Warkaris take a chance to show their devotion through walking, singing abhangas (devotional poems), and participating in spiritual discourses. Pandharpur Wari Yatra starts from Dehu and Alandi, the processions carry the Paduka (footprints) of the saint-poets in decorated Palkhis, reflecting deep reverence for both bhakti and community spirit.

Ashadhi Ekadashi is the most auspicious day in the Warkari tradition. On this day, devotees look for Lord Vitthal’s darshan at the Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir in Pandharpur. The energy is fully electric with bhajans, kirtans, and complete surrender to the god.
